LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential enables primary school teachers to introduce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) learning in their classrooms in an engaging, hands-on, fun way.
The kit includes a 2-port, programmable hub, 2 motors, a light matrix, colour sensor, a 6-axis gyro, 4 mini figures and a range of Lego bricks, which enable children in KS1 & KS2 to develop their skills in a range of curriculum areas.
Children can develop their coding skills within the SPIKE™ App, using age appropriate, drag & drop icon or word-based blocks, based on a Scratch-like programming language to program their creations.
As part of the Lego Learning System, Spike Essentials aligns with many aspects of the national curriculum, including Computing, Design & Technology, Maths, Science and English and comes with ready-made lesson plans based around a theme that also include suggestions for differentiation by simplifying a project or taking it to the next level. A range of additional teacher resources are also available, including build instructions, assessment rubrics and pupil worksheets.
